February 29, 2008 - There have been so many incredible players on the Oilers team that they have retired six numbers over the course of the team's history. They haven't been playing for all that long, but for as long as they have been they have made their statement clear.
Some of the great team members that have had their numbers retired include Al Hamilton (3, retired in 1980), Paul Coffey (7, retired in 2005), Mark Messier (11, retired in 2007), Jari Kurri (17, retired in 2001), Grant Fuhr (31, retired in 2003), and Wayne Gretzky (99, retired in 1999).
Rexall Place
February 29, 2008 - Standing on the North side of Northlands Park in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Rexall place is home to the Edmonton Oilers (NHL), the Edmonton Rush (NLL), the Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL), the Edmonton Drillers (CMISL), the Edmonton Road Runners (AHL), the Edmonton Drillers (NPSL) and the Edmonton Skyhawks (NBL). It opened on November 10, 1974 with the name Northlands Coliseum.
The cost of the project reached $19,400,000 Canadian and seats 16,839 for hockey games and 13,000 for concerts. There are 67 luxury suites inside the arena.
Former names include Northlands Coliseum, Edmonton Coliseum and Skyreach Centre. Artists that have had live recordings at Rexall place include Yes, Nickelback, Our Lady Peace, The Who, WWE Backlash 2004, and Michael W. Smith.
